EE are rolling out a new enhancement to their 4G network. EE are doubling their 4GEE speeds, making them up to 60Mb/second – that’s faster than most people’s fibre broadband at home.

EE explain “It’s like adding two additional lanes of traffic to a road and changing the speed limit, meaning you can get more cars travelling on it, at faster speeds.”

What’s the benefit of the extra speed? Well, simply put, dowloading large files, films and doing other great things on the internet with take half the time. On the double speed 4GEE network a film will take just three minutes to download instead of 20 minutes on a 3G network.

Double speed 4GEE is available to new and existing customers. It now covers 20 towns and cities – Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Derby, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Sheffield, Southampton, Sunderland, Sutton Coldfield, Walsall, West Bromwich and Wolverhampton. EE are planning to roll out the capability across their whole network, to cover 98% of the UK population by the end of 2014.

Meanwhile the expansion of their regular 4GEE network is continuing at breakneck speed – with over 100 towns and cities now covered.
