The Problem:
Internet access is now essential for most businesses. Loss of service means the company will almost certainly lose money and possibly customers. Most businesses are unaware that ADSL faults are resolved on a ‘best efforts’ basis with no guaranteed time to fix. Additionally delays in the provision of fixed line Broadband access at new or temporary sites can leave staff unproductive for as long as a month.
The Solution:
Spectrum’s SuperFast-start Resilient Broadband (FRB) solution instantly provides a WiFi & LAN Internet Hotspot. This can be used to get a new office or temporary location up and running quickly, or to provide a backup solution to an existing fixed line Broadband service.
How it works:
Spectrum’s FRB uses a Hybrid router, with 3G Data, ADSL, Ethernet, LAN and WiFi connections, enabling Internet connectivity from day one via the mobile 3G networks, whilst a fixed line connection is installed or repaired. Once the fixed line is operational the 3G connection can be retained to provide a resilient backup connection, saving disruption and reconfiguration of client PCs.
Case Study 1. Just-in-Time printing business.
Our customer manages their relationships via the Internet, and works to tight; just-in-time printing deadlines, so when their ADSL Broadband service went down, they couldn’t wait for the line fault to be resolved. We deployed our FRB solution and had them back online within hours. The customer was so impressed, that they have retained the solution, which now gives them automatic failover to 3G; should their fixed line service fail again.
Case Study 2. Construction Site Electrical Contractor.
Our customer, a major electrical contractor; had a problem in getting a fixed line service installed in their porta-cabin at a new construction site. Internet access is essential for the remote site staff to access head office IT services. Due to the location of the site, Openreach was going to have to install a new cable, which incurred excess costs of several thousand pounds; and a planning delay of many weeks. With Spectrum’s FRB solution, they were up and running instantly; and for a fraction of the excess installation costs. When the job was complete, our customer retained the FRB solution and used it on their next site, saving further installation costs.
