Pokemon Go has taken the world by storm since its release on 6th July 2016.

The game appeals to a huge audience with more than 40 percent of all adults playing the game aged 25 and over. This is according to data from StartApp, a company that tracks 600 million users for downloads and social usage. StartApp didn’t provide data on users under 18.

With this in mind we wanted to reassure our readers that although many mobile users on your corporate accounts may be playing the game using their 4G data connection, according to The Wall Street Journal, Verizon reports that Pokemon Go, which has become one of the top downloads since it was released, makes up less than 1 percent of its overall network data traffic.

P3 communications, a network analytics firm, reportedly also determined the app only consumes between 5MB to 10MB of data per hour. Compare this with watching a high-definition video online which can consume as much as 350MB per hour.

Although the app isn’t a huge data hog it does drain the battery due to the heavy GPS and camera usage. There is a battery saver mode which can be accessed in the app settings. Turning this on puts the phone into sleep mode with the app running in the background when the device is upside down. Another battery saver is turning off the AR function which turns off the camera and saves battery.Existing customers, speak to your account manager today to order additional battery packs from your mobile account hardware allowances.

Tips on limiting data usage

• Download all app updates and in-app purchases over Wi-Fi.

• Only play in areas where public Wi-Fi is available.

• Set a mobile data limit for yourself.

• Restrict background app data.
